Planning to buy a pc? which one should you buy, a laptop or a desktop? how can we decide a laptop will be the best or a desktop? a laptop is best or a desktop? let's look at some of the important factors which will help you to make the right decision.
Laptop vs desktop.
Portability - This is the most prominent reason why people go for a laptop instead of a desktop. Of course, you can not take your desktop everywhere you go, with you but you can take the laptop easily in your bag. If you travel frequently and you need to have your pc, when you are out or traveling, then buying a desktop, will not be a good idea, you should go for a laptop.
The cost of a desktop is very less than a laptop of the same specification - When it comes to money, no doubt you will have to spend a lot more for a laptop as compared to a desktop of similar specifications. And another fact that makes the desktop cost-effective is, it can be customized as per your requirement(many things there for customization, such as the brand of the component, capacity, price, quality, etc). For example, If you are a student and you need a pc with the specifications of 4gb ram,256gb HD with no graphics(which is best for internet surfing, ms office use youtube at a low budget). So yes if you are going for the desktop then you can select the parts and decide to make your pc as per your requirement and avoid the unnecessary resources to reduce the cost(All I want to say is if I need a pc of i3 processor but I don't want to spend for the 1tb HD which comes with it, then I can simply assemble a 160gb HD instead of 1tb one in my desktop which I can not do in the case of a laptop).
Battery- This is the second big reason to prefer a laptop. A laptop battery backup is almost like a smartphone's backup, If you buy a laptop that has a battery of higher maH then you are free from the worries of power issue. But in the case of a desktop, It can only keep backup for 30 min(approx), if you buy a good quality UPS. Does battery backup matter? Yes, it is very important to have a pc that has a decent battery backup for almost all of us. Especially if you are from a rural area like me, where electricity is not stable then going for the laptop is inevitable.
Its parts and its performance - Laptops usually have a smaller processor as compared to desktop one and it gives less performance as compared to a desktop's processor. (some of the new gaming laptops also coming with the same size processor as a desktop, but they are so costly. So If you are planning to buy a pc for heavy use like gaming and to use video editing etc then a desktop will give the best performance as compared to a laptop. And also remember when a laptop has similar parts as a desktop then a desktop will always give smooth and the best performance, because in laptops its parts are smaller in size, and in the case of desktop, it is full-sized.
The desktop is Easy to upgrade- When it comes to upgrading desktop win. You can upgrade the parts of the desktop easily(i3 processor to i5) but in the case of a laptop, you can not. You can add more than one hard disk in the CPU of a desktop but in the case of a laptop, you will have to change the hard disk if you need to upgrade it. You can change its parts by watching and following the videos from youtube step by step. Or you can cut the cost by buying parts of a desktop and assemble yourself with the help of youtube if you want to reduce more cost.
The desktop is easy to repair as compared to laptops- To make the size of the laptop smaller the manufacturers make its parts integrated, but in the case of a desktop each and every part such as- processor, ram, HD, motherboard, are completely separate. We can easily open the case of the desktop and take the part out which we think is not working. Another fact is parts of the laptop are rare to find and they design the parts to fit into the size of the particular model which is the biggest drawback.
Conclusion
Finally, my recommendation is, the desktop is the best in every aspect except portability and battery backup, but if you are leaving in an area where electricity is stable and you can compromise with portability issue, then go for the desktop by closing eyes.
